President of FUM met the Vice-Chancellor of Hamdard University, India

Prof. Mohammad Kafi, the President of FUM and the delegation paid a visit to Hamdard University in New Delhi, India, January 17, 2017. During this visit arranged by Dr. Khalili, the Scientific Attaché of the I.R. Iran in the Indian Subcontinent, Dr. Hasnain, the Vice-Chancellor of Hamdard University, expressed his interest in establishing scientific relationships between the two universities and stressed on the necessity of cooperation for the exchange of experiences and scientific achievements.

Prof. Kafi also indicated the status of FUM in Iran and the world, its leading role in expanding scientific diplomacy in Eastern Iran with the enrollment of 1,400 international students to boost this diplomacy. The President of FUM emphasized on expanding scientific diplomacy through international cooperation and scientific relationships at the level of academic members in areas of mutual interest, especially nanotechnology, biotechnology, genetics, and medicinal plants. He also officially invited the Vice-Chancellor for a visit to FUM in the April of 2017. It should be mentioned that Hamdard University in India is the legacy of the traditional medicine practitioner, the late Hakim Abd-Alhamid, who turned his office into a drug store 30 years ago and founded Hamdard Pharmaceuticals based on traditional medicine and medicinal herbs. After that, Hamdard Faculty of Pharmacy was established. Due to the good reception of the faculty, other pertinent fields of study such as genetics, biotechnology and later fields such as Islamic studies and sociology were also added.

Hamdard University of India counts as the top universities of India and is recognized by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of Iran. It has 7000 students, where 400 are international with 30 Iranian students among them. During the visit, Dr. Razi, President of Gilan University, Dr. Hashemi, the vice-president for Academic Affairs and Dr. Khalili, the Scientific Attache of Iran were also present. It should be mentioned that the Iranian delegation were invited by the Culture and Islamic Relationships Organization to attend the “Commonalities of Iran and Indian Subcontinent: Subcultures in the Globalization era” conference.
